My first sculpt from scratch in zBrush, and my second try at the program overall. It's fun to use (though difficult to get used to). I've got lots to learn, but me and zBrush are gonna be tight, I can feel it.

Detective Doberman
A character design assignment for Draw class from first semester. He started out as a criminal, but quickly morphed into a monologuing, hysterical-dame-calming, extremely noire detective, fighting against the ever-growing mob that plagues his city.
This was intended to be his final design, but I maaay replace his coat with a trench coat in the future.
(Also, he's from the same universe as Benny, the axelotl guy I posted about a while ago.)

Aliens, Birds, and a Boy
I have so much traditional stuff laying around on my computer that needs to be cleaned up and adjusted, so the lines aren't all washed out and gross looking. Here's a few things that I got around to fixing up.
Millie, a very practiced thief. I thought this was going to be her final design, but I'd like to make a few more adjustments, I think. Her design is part human, part armadillo, and part monkey (though more in her movements), but I'd like to bring in more armadillo elements.
Not 100% sure about this guy's story yet, but I'm thinking he's an arcade machine repairman named Reagan. Probably a minor character, but my minor characters have a tendency to grow beyond their boundaries, so we'll see.
Some concepts for one of the world representatives in the alien council, from the same story as Millie. They can do some pretty weird stuff with those hands, but usually their crown of arms only extends outwards in such a way in times of extreme distress.
A concept for Skiff, a kid in a small, hockey-loving town, who is plagued with visions of Venus Jackalope aliens. The details of his design have gone through a lot of iterations in the past, so I wouldn't say this is the final one, but I'm getting closer to how I want him to look.

A Few Digital Things
I had hoped to be posting a lot more frequently on here, but finals crept up on me. After that, perhaps.
Anywho, here's few recent things.

My Sketchbook is Full of Fish
I started planning out a character design last week for an axelotl gangster, because axelotls are amazing and perfect.
My first sketches stuck closer to the actual structure of the animal, with a barrel-chested physique that tapered towards his feet. I found this made him look a bit too noble for my tastes, though -- I wanted him to be more like a goon who enjoys picking fights and carrying out the dirty work.
Here I was still figuring out the general shapes of his torso, neck, head, and arms. He gained a bit more personality and a bad habit. I had some vague ideas for his body shape and posture, but still he didn't look sleazy enough.

Started to hit the vein I was going for here. I landed on an S shape for his body with limbs that tapered more near the ends, inspired by this guy, and also this guy. I wanted to keep a sort of rounded semi-circle shape to his head, but not without separating it too much from his neck, so the curve of his spine would stay fluid and slithery. He still needs work, but I can already picture him busting up some do-gooders.
